The Internet is going to come and get you

First, it was the computer. Now it’s the Internet that’s going to be personalised.

At the recently concluded CES, Intel CEO Paul Otellini tells the crowd during his keynote speech that the Internet needs to become more personal and proactive. According to him, the days of the “go-to” Internet, where users connect to the Web and use search engines to find what they are looking for, are coming to end.

“Instead of going to the Internet, the Internet is going to come to us,” Otellini said.

Whoa! Wait a minute. I seemed to remember Google CEO Eric Schmidt suggesting that the truth is out there on the Internet not too long ago. But now his Intel counterpart predicts that the truth as we know it is coming to an end. (The irony.) And this thing that’s going to be personalised is going to come and get you.

Am I the only one here thinking that this is Minority Report all over again? Or is this really some kind of a frigging conspiracy to get us to view more ads?
