A little plastic means so much

Do you know it costs US$4,000 to process and recycle 1 ton of plastic bags, which can then be sold on the commodities market for only US$32? So it’s a good thing that governments around the world are taking a concerted effort to ban the use of plastic bags.

Here in Shenzhen, many supermarkets are encouraging consumers to use recyling shopping bags (环保袋) for their groceries by charging a nominal sum for plastic bags.

We are so used to the convenience that we sometimes forget that it takes something so cheap to inflict a negative long-term impact on our environment and our future generations.
